The really baffling thing is that showrunner LN claimed the ending was good for Eve, some kind of redemption allowing her a new life. That's not what the end felt like, and the song lyrics underscore that she will be forever heartbroken (and probably will go on a revenge killing spree).

Commenting again…I play the drums, and when I’m home at night playing sometimes I just like to turn on the RUclips recommendation and let it ride blindly. Surprise drumming is fun! Inevitably this song comes up at some point. And I swear, before I can even mentally register it, my gut is already twisted in knots several beats ahead. Because, guh. But yes, while that’s sad and weird for a TV series to forget they exist for entertainment and be hellbent on causing such ... pain…there is definitely more here to lose yourself in. My love for Unloved has only grown (I always power through and play through this track). And I love that I discovered so much great music of theirs through KE. I always share to this day. ^_^ But damn this track hurts. And the track hurts even more/better/worse than the weak script did. So I give this to Unloved 100000% and will keep listening and drumming, despite the surprise gut punches.

Although the series is not based on true events, they are similar to my killings, I might as well be the real life Villanelle.
